The Nine Daughters of Zeus

AAAHHHH the muses. And 1/3 of them exemplified poetry. Calliope and her role for epic poetry; specifically the Iliad & Odyssey. Erato and her Erotic influence. And Polyhymnia and her hymns of eloquence.

But this isn't a blog about them necessarily. How boring. I mean there's only so much I can comment about 33 percent of the 9 daughters of Zeus. Hell, you could just go to Wikipedia for that.

No this is about my ups and downs of being an executive director of a modest non-profit in northern Arizona specializing in poetry. This blog is to chronicle my daily experiences; good or bad.

While I'm at this blogging thing I will call upon the 33 percent to help me make decisions, settle scores, edit poetry, find a wine key and answer prayers.

I should be here at least once a week talking about what it's like surviving in the current economic climate where foundations are turning down applicants right and left. "Sorry, due to current economic conditions...do not think our denial of funding your project is in any way a reflection...we wish you all the best...blah, blah, blah". The fact is foundations are as scared as the NPO's that depend on them. This blog will bring my fears and victories to light. I don't believe in giving up. I believe in giving. Period.

Stay tuned.
